Wouldn't it be amazing if the desire for porn simply disappeared? If you could scroll past something triggering, feel nothing, and move on without a second thought?
Many guys think this is what freedom looks like. They imagine a day when the urges just vanish.
After more than twenty years of being hooked and now living in exhilarating freedom, I can tell you something that might surprise you. The urges do not stop. And this actually makes complete sense.
If you are a functioning human male with a phone, you can access anything you want twenty four seven. Porn offers fast relief from stress, anxiety, boredom, responsibility, or loneliness. Given that reality, why would the desire for that temporary escape ever fully disappear?
And if that is true, it has some huge implications for your freedom.
You Will Face Hundreds of Urges
If you want long term freedom and a lifelong commitment to staying off porn, then you are likely going to face hundreds of urges. Maybe 200. Maybe 300. Maybe 500. You will still feel stressed and overwhelmed at times. You will still feel lonely. And porn will always be there as an option for quick emotional relief.
This is what stands between you and lasting freedom.
So the question becomes this. How in the world do you handle hundreds of urges and stay free on the other side?
The Truth Most Guys Miss
Freedom is not possible if your plan is to resist 500 urges.
It is not possible if your plan is to avoid 500 urges.
It is definitely not possible if your strategy is to go to battle with 500 urges.
You cannot white knuckle your way through that. You cannot discipline your way through 500 urges. You might win some battles. But every urge starts you back at ground zero again. It is exhausting and it never leads to long lasting change.
So what does?
The Neo Shift
There is only one way I know of to get through hundreds of urges and come out free. You must change the way you relate to the urge itself.
I think about Neo in The Matrix. At first he tried to beat the agents by being stronger and faster. Sometimes he won. Sometimes he ran. It was always a fight. But everything changed once he saw the truth of the Matrix. He no longer viewed the agents the same way. He no longer needed to fight them. The rules were different. His entire relationship to them had shifted.
That is exactly what has to happen inside you.
The Shift You Need to Make
You must stop seeing the urge as something to fight or avoid and start seeing it as something to feel.
Just feel it.
Not obey it.
Not resist it.
Not push it away.
Simply feel the sensation in your body without giving the urge authority over you.
This will feel strange at first. Especially if you have spent years fearing the urge or treating it like an enemy.
But when you tell yourself, I can handle this feeling, something changes. You begin to experience that you can stay grounded even when the urge shows up. You begin to see that the urge is only a feeling and not a command.
This is the Neo Shift. This is how you transform 500 battles into 500 moments of awareness.
What Happens Over Time
For twenty years, fighting urges never made them come less often and never made them less intense. But when I started allowing the urge to simply be felt, everything changed. Over time the urges became less frequent and less intense. It became easier to handle them. And that created a cycle upward.
This is the path to lasting freedom. And it begins with the shift.
How to Start Making the Shift Today
You can begin on your very next urge.
It is a simple four step guide that walks you through exactly how to allow the urge instead of fighting it. These are the steps that helped me make the shift and build the freedom I now enjoy.
True freedom is possible. Take the next step today!
